What the checker looks at

Fourteen plain-English rules in four groups. No hidden scoring.

Contact

Email, phone and an online profile or portfolio link.

Structure

Summary, experience, education, skills, bullets and a sensible length.

Content

Numbers, action verbs, weak phrases and bullets that run too long.

Language

Repeated openings, overused buzzwords and first-person “I” or “my”.

Small edits, big difference

Hiring managers skim. Bullets that say what you did and what changed read faster than duties. Flip through some examples.

Examples are fictional. Only claim numbers that are true for you.

Six mistakes that cost interviews

Open each for the quick fix.

A different resume for every job, none tailored

Keep one master version, then adjust the summary and top bullets to echo each listing’s language, using only things that are true.

Duties instead of results

Swap “responsible for weekly reports” for what changed because of them: time saved, errors cut, decisions made.

A wall of text

Aim for short bullets of one or two lines, three to five per role, with the strongest first.

Skills you cannot back up

Every skill should be something you can discuss for two minutes. Remove the rest.

Fancy formatting

Columns, text boxes, icons and images often confuse applicant-tracking systems. Plain single-column text is safest.

Typos and inconsistent dates

Read it aloud, check every date format matches, and have someone else read it too.

Questions, answered

Straight answers, no fine print. More on the FAQ page or contact us.

Is my resume uploaded or stored when I use the checker?

No. The check runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste is never sent to our servers.

Is this an ATS score?

No. Every employer’s applicant-tracking system works differently, and nobody outside those systems can score you against them. This checker looks at structure and wording using simple rules, so treat it as a quick proofread.

How does the keyword match work?

It picks out the most repeated meaningful words and known skill phrases in the job description you paste, then checks whether your resume contains them. It is a hint about wording, not a guarantee of anything.

Should I add every missing keyword?

Only the ones that are true for you. Adding skills you do not have will not survive an interview and can cost you the job.

Can I check a PDF or DOCX?

Not on this page, which takes pasted text. With a free account you can upload a PDF or DOCX and get a section-by-section health score.
